When I was a kid, one of my favorite deserts was a baked apple. It's super simple, tasty, filling, and easy to do with few calories.

1. Core the apple and place in baking pan. If you have one of those nifty core tools, that's perfect, as you can stand the apple upright and put the flavorings in the center. I imagine it's also perfectly reasonable to cut the apple up in to halves to core, and drizzle the "extras" on top.

2. Flavor! This is really flexible, but here are a few suggestions:
Spices: Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cloves, or simply Apple Pie Spice
Honey or Brown Sugar or Real Maple Syrup (just don't overdo this)
Nuts (again not too many)
Berries (fresh or dried) or Raisins

3. Add just a little water (or cider) to the pan to keep everything moist. (optional)

4. Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes. You can use a knife to see if the apple is tender.

5. Enjoy! (Let cool a little if needed.)
